Summit of Mount Takao (Hachioji)

Hardly a must-see, but a pleasant excursion from Tokyo. Take the Keio Line from Shinjuku Station to Takao-san-guchi. A cable car will take you half way up, or take one of the many clearly marked trails. Wander past huge trees, through a temple and shrine. The top has been paved over and fitted with little restaurants! Wander around the perimeter and you may see Mount Fuji.
