Once a popular swimming spot, with its own club.

Now deemed unsafe for swimming due to pollution from the nearby Shell gas station and other sources. Still a popular spot for fishing, especially in the summer.

Is said to contain a record number of sunken tires and shopping carts.

Every Christmas, a little man-made island in the southern part of the lake is decorated with a glowing christmas tree. Although the island would usually be dismantled during the rest of the year, since 2001 it has displayed a large American flag during its "off-season."

Gropp's Lake also houses a large number of resident geese, which lie in wait near the bridge, ready at a moment's notice to spring out and cover the roads during your morning commute.
