Completed by 2012, this 35-storey (120 metres est.) building was formerly known as CSS Tower, which CSS stands of Dr. Chua Seong Siew, the ambitious man who started the project. The tower site was formerly the family home of the Chua family since the 1930s. The family works together with project manager Khor Joo Saik Sdn. Bhd., Veritas Architects www.veritas.com.my/ and Jones Lang Wootton www.jlwmalaysia.com/ for this project. Even though its name has changed to Menara Binjai, one can still find the CSS initial on its logo.

Without a doubt, Menara Binjai is another iconic building in the city. It has set a new benchmark of the green building for others to follow. Apart of its beauties and energy savings feature, it is also well located and conveniently reached via public transport or private vehicles. It complies with stringent environmental regulations that include minimising the impact of its construction on the surrounding area, and adopting low carbon footprint strategies. It was awarded with Dual Green Building Certification by Singapore’s BCA Green Mark Gold and Malaysia’s Green Building Index.

On Thursday 9th Feb 2012, a construction crane fell right down to Jln Binjai from the top of the building. Few cars were smashed. Few people had a very close call with death. But miraculously, there was not injuries. Just a few very, very shaken people.
