MINDS-Guillemard Gardens School was established in September 1992 at the premises of the former Guillemard East Primary School . Initially, with 48 pupils and 17 staff, it now has a muster of 120 pupils and 32 staff.

Dr Aline Wong, the then Minister of State for Health and Education, officiated the opening of the school o­n 7 October 1994. Ms Yip Moh Ching was the first Principal, then succeeded by Mrs Jenny Alexander in 1994, Ms M Jayasundari in 1999, Mdm Salha Soo in 2000 and Mr Anthony Tan in 2003. Presently, Mrs Jenny G. Alexander is leading the school into its 16th year (2008).
