Manitowoc is a city in and the county seat of Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 33,736 at the 2010 census.
Founded in 1836, Manitowoc is known for the production of malt (used in the manufacture of beer), yachts and ice machines. Until recently, the city produced submarines for use by the US military. The city is located on Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Manitowoc River. One of the three ferries that cross Lake Michigan depart from Manitowoc.
