Built in 1926 as a state-of-the-art department store, the Weiler Building has long been the anchor for Portland’s downtown. Renovated and is now the John Jay Center for Learning. The Historic Landmarks of Indiana Foundation presented the The Cook Cup for Outstanding Restoration of an Indiana Landmark award to the Jay County group for turning the vacant and dilapidated former store into a state-of-the-art educational and community center.
