Built from 1883-1887, this building was once a religious school run by the nuns Order of Our Lady of Zion. It was constructed under the leadership of President Tomás Guardia Gutiérrez, and was one of the first girl's schools in Costa Rica. Today, it houses part of the national legislature, and was declared a national historic site on Feb. 17, 1988.
