From 1936-2002 this was the Cypress Gardens amusement park, the first modern park in Florida. In 2004, it reopened as Cypress Gardens Adventure Park with a petting zoo and roller coasters for the first time, but could not sustain itself and closed in 2009.
In 2011, Legoland Florida opened here after extensive renovation of the park.
