The Pilot Butte Drive-In was established by Jack and Dee Mangin in October of 1983. Their experience dates back to 1962, when they purchased their first restaurant in the California Bay Area. They have remained in the business throughout the years and owned and operated eight restaurants, including the Drive-In. Not all of them have been as successful as the Drive-In, but every one has had an impact on it!

In March of 1987 Jack and Dee’s son Steve Mangin and his wife Melanie moved to Bend from the Bay Area and bought fifty percent of the Drive-In. This proved to be an outstanding partnership and greatly impacted the business, as well as profoundly strengthening the family. Since that time the business has continued to grow and prosper.

The Pilot Butte Drive-In now employs in excess of twenty people and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. In April of 2007 the Drive-In was sold to Bill and Tammy Falconer, a local Bend couple. Future plans do not include any major changes to this popular business. The Falconers look forward to continued growth and plan to remain in Bend for many years to come.
