place with historical importance, interesting place
The 'Old Slave Block' may or may not have been used to sell slaves. However, the Planters Hotel (directly behind the block) was advertised as a location for slave auctions. Early in the 20th century former slaves stopped here while offering tours of the town, and postcards from that period depict a man who was sold at the spot in 1859.
