Kaupanger is a Large village originating from a Ice age settlement. It is situated along the Sognefjord in the Sogndal municipality of Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. Kaupanger has a population (in 2007) of 2486.[1]

The Kaupanger stave church which was built in the 12th century is located here.

Kaupanger has in recent years had an industrial advancement with the building of "Elkjøp" kaupang senteret, Go'sveisen and "Bohus".
