  This is a very short hike, but a very steep one. Depending on who you ask, it is anywhere from 1300 to 1700 vertical feet in 1.7 miles. The sign at the begining states 1300 vertical feet. Once at the foot of the chimney tops there is about 150 vertical feet to reach the summit. This area at the top has some of the best veiws in the park. Mount Leconte is close and to the NE. This hike is worth every grueling step the top. Becareful, one missed placed step on top, and its 1300 feet straight down.
