One of the oldest greyhound tracks in the nation, PBKC began its inaugural season on February 17, 1932. The original facility was built by the O.M. Carmichael family. A group headed by Phil Bryan purchased the track from the Carmichaels and later sold it to a corporation headed by Bernie Griffin. In 1953, John Boggiano bought the Kennel Club and later built the grandstand, which is still in place today. During his 18 years, which he owned the track, the mutuel handle grew almost 400 percent.

Arthur J. Rooney & his five sons.In 1970, Mr. Boggiano sold the track to a group headed by Mr. Arthur J. Rooney of Pittsburgh, Pa., and his five sons. Mr. Rooney, who won four NFL Championships as owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, passed away Aug. 25, 1988, leaving the track in the capable hands of sons, Dan, Art Jr., Tim, John and Pat.
