Starting out life as the Victoria Flour Mill in the late 19th century, this building was acquired by former president Rafael Yglesias Castro and converted into a coffee mill in the 1920s. In the mid-1940s it again transferred ownership and was converted into apartments by architect Francisco Jimenéz Ortiz, who was fond of its colonial appearance. It was declared a national heritage site on Dec. 17, 1998.
