P.V. Narasimha Rao Elevated Expressway (Hyderabad)

This is a 11.6 km Elevated Expressway connecting the Hyderabad International Airport with the city at Mehdipatnam. The PVNR Expressway has been opened for traffic at the end points on 2009-10-19. However, the construction of six midway entry/exit ramps is yet to be completed.

The expressway starts at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in Mehadipatnam and passes through Rethibowli,Laxmi Nagar,Attapur,Hyderguda,Upperpally,Rajendra Nagar and connects to the National Highway 7 (NH-7) near Aramghar junction.

The maximum speed limit on the P.V. Expressway is 60 km/hour for light motor vehicles. As the carriageway narrows down from two lanes (7.5 metres width) to one-and-half lane (6 metres width) due to sharp-turns at Laxminagar, Upparpally and Shivrampally, the maximum speed at these turnings has been restricted to 40 km/hour. Overtaking at these narrow carriageways along with parking on the flyover has been strictly prohibited. Entry for cyclists, two and three-wheelers, three and four-wheeled seven seaters, pushcarts and bullock carts are prohibited on the flyover. All the goods vehicles, including light, medium and heavy vehicles, will also be not allowed.
