The Alviela Ciência Viva Center - The KARSTSCOPE is a member of The National Network of Ciência Viva Centers and can be described as an interactive space that combines and promotes both science and technology.

Located in the frontier between the Portuguese provinces of Estremadura and Ribatejo, The Alviela Ciência Viva Center - The KARSTSCOPE, with the use of state of the art technology, allows its visitors to embark on an exciting adventure that goes deep into the earth’s depths, in the search for the birth place of the Alviela River spring, witnessing the passage of the year’s seasons, revealing its deep effects on one of the country’s largest underground water reservoirs as well as exploring the local cave bat communities’ most secret and favorite hiding places.
