Ta'er Monastery (Kumbum)

Monastery constructed in the 14th century. Once over 4000 monks were housed here, today there are again about 500 . The monastery is a major tourist site in Amdo (northeast Tibet), where visitors have to buy entry tickets (from 08:30-17:30). The opening hours are from 09:30 to 18:00. Also many souvenir stores are at the entry of the monastery.
