Monastery (Chin.: Litang Si) of the Gelukpa order. It was built in the 16th century (3rd Dalai Lama) and expanded later (5th Dalai Lama). The monastery used to house 3700 monks. Lithang Gompa is situated in Litang county of the Ganzi (Garzê) Tibetan Autonomous prefecture of Sichuan province.
