hospital, sanatorium
This geriatric long-stay hospital was opened in 1928 as the Surrey County Sanatorium by then Minister of Health, Neville Chamberlain.
The hospital's function changed to geriatric rehabilitation in 1985 and a new 52 bed unit was built on site. Since then much has closed, leaving only a few wards and villas open. Much of the rest is now derelict and the small hospital is threatened by closure.
