Former Torpedo Test Facility

Used by the US Navy from the 1920's through 1987 as a torpedo storage, electroplating, degreasing and evaluation facility, the Gould Island Facility was deactivated with the rest of Naval Station Newport and has seen all its above-ground buildings razed.
