Haflong is a town and headquarters of Dima Hasao District in India in the state of Assam. The Term "Haflong" is Derived from Dimasa word "Haflau" which means "Ant-Hill". The Term "Haflong" is even prominent in the clans of Dimasas, The Clan "Haflongbar" is one of the 42 clans of Dimasas. Haflong is a hill station of Barail Range and renowned for its healthy climate. This is the most important hill railway station in between Lumding and Badarpur. Besides Dimasa (Kochari), Naga, Hmar, Jaintia, Nepali, Bengali and many more section of people living in this town for long. Haflong has produced many educationist, scholar, bureaucrat, social and political leaders and some Ministers of the state of Assam. This is also the head quarter of North Cachar Hills Autonomous District Council.
