About Tawam Hospital
Per Royal directives of HH. Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Tawam Hospital was established to serve the Al Ain population.
It was officially inaugurated on 17th December 1979 and its management was awarded to two successive corporations during the period 1979-1985 at which time the Ministry of Health took over the management of Tawam Hospital.
The Ministry has provided Tawam hospital with the state of the art diagnostic & therapeutic facilities . It has also recruited highly specialized and well trained staff in all medical and nursing disciplines .
Tawam Hospital was also chosen by the UAE University as a training centre for the FMHS students. The MOH, further , made Tawam Hospital as a specialized center for all patients referred from other hospitals in country as well as from the neighboring countries .
In the context of its five year plan for upgrading medical services in all districts across the country , Tawam Hospital has become an integrated medical center following the great expansions and developments in order to keep pace with the population growth in Al Ain and its surrounding areas with a view of upgrading the quality standard of services and increase the hospital bed capacity from 265 beds to 500 beds.
In 2001 , the General Authority for the development of Health services (GAHS) took over the management of the hospital .
And in March 2006 , Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHMI) took over the management of tawam hospital.
