This small pond is the source of many a local urban legend. The most popular is despite it's small size it is bottomless. Recent surveys of the lake showed it of course has a bottom, but it is extremely deep. The name Deadman's Pond comes from the history of a cliff just above it known as Gibbet Hill where public hangings once took place.

  • This pond is deadly. Do not try and take a swim in there or you will die because the current is too strong
  • And I know this because if you search the history of dead man's pond in Newfoundland on Signal hill, you'll find out that dead man's pond is DEADLY and BOTTOMLESS. And my mom was boen and raised in Newfoundland
  • I meant to say my mother was born in Newfoundland, not boen in Newfoundland
  • This is a old wives tale and everyone in the area knows better. It's not even that deep!!!
