 residence, Modern (architecture), 1950s construction

The house was designed by Edward D. Pierre, FAIA (1890-1971) for the 1954 Indianapolis Home Show. Edward D. Pierre, FAIA exemplified the architect as civil leader and advocate of the architectural profession in public affairs and as such, the Edward D. Pierre Award was created in his honor in 1971 by the Board of Directors of AIA Indiana.

Originally described as Moderne, today the house would more commonly be considered an example of Mid-Century Modern. The one story ranch plan configuration with low sloped roofs showcased small bedrooms, an open living dining area and kitchen each in separate wings. Large floor to ceiling windows opened the interior spaces out to the landscape.
