Named in honor of Napolean's exile home. Built by Dr. Gustavus Warfield about 1820; son of Major Charles Alexander Warfield of Bushy Park (just north of here).

The house was consumed by fire when it was nearly ready for occupancy, then immediately rebuilt.

Just to the right of the mansion, Dr. Warfield built a small replica of the mansion that he used for an office and to teach medical students. He often kept patients overnight is his "hospital" if they were too sick to return home.
