Bir Moghrein, Arabic بير مغرين, DMG Bīr Muġrain, French spelling Bir Moghrein is a remote desert town in the administrative region Tiris Zemmour in the extreme north of Mauritania. Until the independence of the country from the French colonial period in 1960 the town was called Fort Trinquet.

How F'dérik (formerly Fort Gouroud) was Bir Moghrein early 20th Century as a French military post on the border of the colonial empire. In the Western Sahara conflict Bir Moghrein was in the combat zone between Mauritanian troops and Polisario.

In the 2000 census, the population was the 2761st The simple flat houses lie within the Mauritanian military unit stationed in the village. There is an airport with a paved runway without public transport operations (ICAO: GQPT, no IATA code). (translation from the german wikipedia)
