Institutionalised agricultural education for middle level agriculturists was started in 1916 at the School of Tropical Agriculture, Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya. The school provided practical agricultural training for future agricultural instructors, headmen, teachers and students interested in agriculture. In 1941 it was relocated in Gannoruwa, in new buildings now occupied by the In-service Training Institute.
The Girl’s Farm School was inaugurated in 1948 at Kundasale, and in 1958 a second School of Agriculture was started on the same premises. The medium of instruction was Sinhala and Tamil. In 1966 the school in Peradeniya was amalgamated with the school at Kundasale.

  • This is the place that we are treating as our mother,because we realy born in kundasale.Unfortunatly the govt. is planning to build an airport.We cant understand as its an agricultural country why they cant think ,if realy need an airport for Kandy,there are enough places around the city.you can do it any where but you cant find that historical value, climatic and soil.
