It is founded in 1941 by decree of Boris III, Tsar of Bulgaria, after insistence of Bulgarian population in Bosilegrad.
From fondation (1941) to end of World War II (1946) High-school have a name "Maria Louise" (Boris's daughter,Princess of Bulgaria). After World War II High-school got a name "Ivan Karivanov". From 1990 until now it have a name "Gimnaziya"
