Besides soccer,also used for athletics and other sports and has an auditorium as well.The First concrete stadium in West Bengal. Velentala Tereskova along with J.L. Neheru visited this stadium.The first international soccer was between India & Iran. Iran won by 3-1 goals. Chuni Goswami & Rambahadur played in that game.

  • The last time I went to the stadium is in 2002 to watch my fav club Mohunbagan's national league match. I used to practice here in my younger days. That time I discovered that the ground has an underground tunnel system, definitely it was the city's first of it's kind. The stadium owned by CIT could have been a lovely venue if not neglected. However, it has been taken in lease by IFA recently. We can hope for a developed makeover of the stadium soon.
