According to narrations handed down from generations, the town of Pililla was already existing before the coming of the Spanish forces in the Philippines in 1521, with its first inhabitants of pagans living in the mountains and plains along the Pilang Munti as distinguished from Pila, Laguna, which was known as “Pilang Malaki”. Pililla is a very old town. It was founded as an independent municipality in 1583. The present church, which was recently renovated, was constructed in 1673 after a series of fire that gutted the first church in 1632 and again in 1668. On December 4, 1837, an election of local officials was held in Pililla. The following towns participated in the said election: Morong, Pililla, Tanay, Baras, Jala-jala and San Diego (Quisao).
