Khandyga (Russian: Хандыга) is a settlement in the Sakha Republic, Russia, located on the Aldan River, and administrative center of the Tomponsky District. Population: 7,025 (2002 Census); 9,536 (1989 Census). It is on the northeast corner of the Aldan River where the river turns from north to west. A few miles downstream is the mouth of the Amga River. The community is on the Kolyma Highway 380 kilometres (236 mi) northeast of Yakutsk. There is summer hydrofoil service to Yakutsk.
