The hill just behind Danmarks holme islet is called Telegrafberget or Telegraph Hill. The optical telegraph station, Kummelnäs, was located here from 1795 to the 1850s, wen it was replaced by an electrical telegraph system. The optical telegraph was a signal system using observers at strategically placed stations where they read and passed on messages to the next station. The oil storage tanks originate from the first half of the last century, and were phased out in 1973.
