Wheeler Army Airfield (IATA: HHI, ICAO: PHHI), formerly Wheeler Air Force Base, is a U.S. Army post located in the City & County of Honolulu and in the Wahiawa District of the Island of O'ahu, Hawaii. It is a National Historic Landmark. Wheeler is directly adjacent to Schofield Barracks across Kunia Road and to Wahiawā on the central plateau of the Island of O'ahu. Established in February 1922 as a subpost of Schofield Barracks. Designated as the Hawaiian Division Air Service Flying Field on 10 March 1922. Redesignated Wheeler Field on 3 July 1922 in honor of Maj. Sheldon H. Wheeler, commander of nearby Luke Field, who was killed 13 July 1921 in a flying accident. Relieved as a subpost of Schofield Barracks on 31 August 1939 and made a separate station.

Formerly home to the Headquarters, 18th Pursuit Group from 1927 to 1941, the 4th Observation Squadon from 1922 to 1927, the 6th Pursuit Squadron from 1927 to 1941, the Base Headquarters and 18th Air Base Squadron from 1936 to 1940, the 19th Pursuit Squadron from 1921 to 1922 and 1927 to 1941, the 26th Attack Squadron from 1930 to 1939, the 75th Service Squadron from 1930 to 1938, the 78th Pursuit Squadron from 1940 to 1941, and the 86th Observation Squadron from 1940 to 1941.
