The Manhasset Secondary School was designed by the architecture firm of Tooker & Marsh with Roger H. Bullard and built from 1935-39 on the former Henry F. Thompson estate. Smith & Ward served as consulting architect. John Eisele & Co. were contracted as the builder for this WPA project. Its clock system was fabricated by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. A 1950's addition was designed by Paul Wood in consultation with Voorhees, Walker, Foley & Smith; a later alteration/addition in 1988 was by Anderson La Rocca Anderson Architects.

Alma mater include of Hall of Fame tailback Jim Brown, attorney Ira Lee Sorkin, and actor Ken Howard.
