Hill hall is a dormitory located uphill at Tufts University. It is a co-ed, all-freshmen dorm. The halls are single sex by side with a bathroom located on each side. At maximum capacity, Hill can house 164 students. Living in Hill there are also 4 RA's and an RD. The RA's are located strategically throughout the building. Each bathroom in Hill is outfitted with three showers, three toilettes, and a number of sinks. There are no lounges in the halls, but there is a large main lounge on the second floor. Hill hall is located conveniently close to mail services and the eateries on Boston Ave, however it is very far from Davis Square and other downhill destinations. Also located in Hill is the Tufts Student Resources aerobics studio.
The doubles in Hill, which number 70 in total, are generally 14'X15' in size. The singles, of which there are 21, are approximately 8'X15' on average. The rooms all have movable furniture. They all have linoleum floors and painted cinderblock walls. All floors are generally the same size, except for the fifth floor, which houses just seven students. On the second floor of Hill is the main lounge, which has a TV, a ping-pong table, and furniture. Also on the second floor are 3 small study rooms and a small kitchen. On the first floor one can find the laundry room.
Since Hill is an all-freshmen dorm, it is generally seen as a good place to live as a freshman. It is a pretty social dorm, and its small size with small halls is conducive to tight bonds forming between neighbors. While it is known as a fairly social dorm, it is less so than Houston or Tilton. Some students like its single-sex halls. While some people like its location, near Boston Ave, others wish they were closer to Davis Square.
