The bells originated 1,500 years before Christ. They were part of the vestment of the Jewish High Priest. There were many other forms of bells in different cultures.

In the Philippines, many bell casters who were trained by the Spaniards in the different parts of the country produced beautiful bells. One of the most famous bell casters was Hilario Sunico, of the Fundicion de Hilario Sunico, a group of bell casters who produced beautiful bells for many churches in the Philippines.

In Cavite, many of the church bells were either madefrom this foundry or re-casted by Sunico. In Imus, there are three old bells that can be considered as heritage patrimony if the Diocesan Shrine and Cathedral of Nuestra Señora Del Pilar.

For more than one hundred years these bells called the faithful of Imus to prayer and worship. For a long time, these bells served as the time piece for the people of the town. The years had taken a toll on them causing them to have cracks, but still they form a beautiful part of our heritage of the bygone days.
