church, interesting place, historic remains, Mission Revival (architecture)

Designed c. 1917 by J. Clinton Mackenzie in the Spanish Revival style. It is said to have been constructed by only a man named Felix Rebom, using only a hatchet, a trowel, a plumb line, and a T-square. In 1928, Harriet James purchased a 300-year old door from the Spanish monastery in the Pyrenees that now serves as the main entrance to the church. The campus contains several other notable rock buildings once part of the William Matheson estate.
