The Academy of Fine Arts Munich (German: Akademie der Bildenden Künste München, also known as Munich Academy) was founded in 1808 by king Maximilian I. The main academy building was finished 1886. The modern "Erweiterungsbau" (west wing extension) was finished 2005.
