This is the main shaft of the Bakubung Platinum Mine. It has a diameter of 8.5m to a final depth of 987m. Hardware includes Ground mounted Koepe friction rock winders (2 X 20 t skips), DD men and material single cage with counterweight, and a single drum service winder. The men and material cage will have a capacity of 150 persons with a maximum 11.5 t payload.

TWP Projects was appointed as the EPCM contractor, and the $1.6 billion shaft sinking contract was awarded to Aveng Grinaker-LTA.
