Modlin Center for the Arts (Richmond, Virginia)

USA / Virginia / Tuckahoe / Richmond, Virginia

The Modlin Center, which was completed in 1996, was uniquely designed to connect two existing buildings on campus—Keller Hall and the Booker Hall of Music (formerly the Modlin Fine Arts Building). The resulting facility is a spectacular home for the arts and is enjoyed by students, faculty, alumni, and the Richmond community alike. As home to the University's visual and performing arts departments, Modlin features state-of-the-art performance facilities and a number of specialized art studios. It also is home to the University's Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art and Parsons Music Library. Each year, the Modlin Center presents an extensive series of concerts, plays, dance performances, and art exhibitions featuring leading professional artists, faculty members, and students. The Modlin Center is named for Dr. George M. Modlin, who served as president of the University of Richmond for 25 years, from 1946-1971.
