New tree (Sterculia foetida) planted in 2008 (Arossim)

India / Goa / Sancoale / Arossim

In the 16th century, when the Jesuits built new churches and chapels, a tree was also planted in front of these religious places. Sterculia foetida is native to southeast Asian countries and not India.
Since the old tree was struck by lightning and had fallen a new sapling was soon planted and nurtured by Oliver D'Silva.
