Poenari Castle

 ruined castle, place with historical importance, Medieval / Middle Ages, 15th century construction, 13th century construction, tourist attraction
Built in the 13th century, being occupied off an on and left to ruins most times. In the 15th century, Vlad Dracul lll (Vlad the Impaler) took it over and repaired it for use due to it's strategic location. It is not his main castle but one often depicted as such. People say it's haunted and a few tv programs have visited the site as well as ordinary people looking for a thrill. It's a long way to the top!! Over 1500 stairs.

  • G.H.I. (Ghost Hunters International) just did an investigation of this infamous castle. Just watching the show gave me the willies. I would love to visit this castle and thanks to whomever posted the pics, they are marvelous!
