MOD Stafford is situated in the West Midlands to the north of Stafford. Originally an RAF station, it was taken over by the Army in 2006 and renamed MoD Stafford. It is currently home to :

HQ 12 Signal Group & Stafford Station,
22nd Signal Regiment,
Tactical Supply Wing,
MOD Police,
Army Recruiting Teams,
Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps.

Beacon Barracks has a Londis shop with a cash machine, a Gymnasium and Sauna open to Service personnel and their dependants. The Army Learning Centre within the Robson Building is open Military personnel their dependants and MoD Civilian personnel. The HUB Fraggers is open to all Junior Ranks and has free internet access. Off camp the Dixon Community Centre holds regular coffee mornings and a Parent and Toddlers group. The Beaconside Amenities Centre is off camp and is open on various days throughout the week, it is available to hire for private functions.

History:
While it was a RAF Station it had no Runway as it duties was in a Support Role. No 2 Mechanical Transport Squadron was station her and they did the HGVI training and all large transport for the RAF During the cold war. 431 Maintenance Unit at RAF Bruggen had almost the same tasks for the the RAF in Germany only no HGVI training that was only done in the UK.

  • No longer a RAF base, Site is now Army land, When its was RAF there was never a aircraft runway built.
  • Is still RAF base, mainly TSW also used by Army
  • Correction is joint base now known as MOD Stafford
  • It's where No 2 MT Squadron was based, which I was a member of.
