Changi Air Base (East) (Republic of Singapore)

Singapore / Republic of Singapore
 air force base, military

The new base houses the Republic of Singapore Air Force's 145 Squadron, which comprises the extended-range, attack oriented F-16D Block 52+ Fighting Falcons, as well as the 208 Squadron, the 808 Squadron and the 508 Squadron.

The proximity of the South China Sea to the air base gives it an advantage over Tengah Air Base and Paya Lebar Air Base as the F-16 jets from Changi can make a faster and shorter trip out to training areas over the South China Sea, compared to their counterparts from other air bases. The 145 Squadron can save as much as five to seven minutes transit time, which means they also save on fuel and further reducing costs.

  • I have some doubts that the Indonesian Airforce is allowed to make a base in Singapore. I also though that the Indonesian Air Force also takes the F-22 Raptor as that would sound more likely the Singaporean Air Force. Don't take offence as they are just my thoughts.
  • This is not Indonesian Airbase. This is extended Singapore's Changi airbase
  • The Indonesians are getting Sukhoi 30's which outmaneuver, outrun, outgun and generally outfly the new model F-16's and are alot cheaper to procure and maintain! Only the USA have F-22's and at present not selling them to anyone, even Singapore.
  • F22 costs a hell a lot more than any other fighter jet in this world. Plus, USAF's official policy is that it won't sell ANY F22 to any country. Even Japan is still trying its absolute best to persuade yankee to change its mind.
  • Last atomic bomb was detonated in 1945. Since then no country has dared to use such nuclear bombs. It has been conventional war since then.
  • I love Changi and coming again on 21-02-2009.
