The Yemeni Corner (al-Rukn al-Yamaani) (Makkah)

The Yemeni Corner(al-Rukn al-Yamaani) is the Southern west corner of the Ka’bah and parallel to the Black stone corner, al-Rukn al-Yamaani Precede Black stone During Tawaaf and named Yemani corner because it faces Yemen Country side.
Rukne Yamani is the crack in the holy kaaba where Ali was born.

In the book (The Ancient History of Makkah and the Noble House of Allaah) by Muhammad Taahir al-Kurdi al-Makki (vol. 3, p. 256)
"the stone in the Yemeni Corner (al-Rukn al-Yamaani) goes back to the time when ‘Abd-Allaah ibn al-Zubayr (may Allaah be pleased with him), and that it has remained until our own times, and that everyone who has Maintain the Ka’bah kept this stone as it was. He says that during the time of Ottoman Sultan Murad IV, who Maintain the Ka’bah, the edge of the stone of this Corner was broken off, and molten lead was poured in its place".

What is prescribed is to touch this corner, without kissing it or saying Allaahu akbar. If you cannot touch it then you should not point to it, because that was not narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Concerning the virtue of touching the Yemeni Corner, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Touching the Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner indeed erases sins.”

  • Dear brother shahnoor. What is the reference to this claim? if Saudi govt wants to hide the crack, why is the cover of kaaba has a window exactly at the place where rukun e yamani/point of entrance of hazrat fatima to kaaba.
  • I agree with Brother Jare. People make up stories and make fabricated claims. I have recently been on umrah and found no cracks whatsoever. I touched and kissed the Yemeni Rukan so many times. We shouldn't tell stories from hearsay.

  • Saudi govts have tried everything from steel ( molten ) to cement to lead but still it stays as it is! Other ones who are arguing I'm not sure are they denying kaaba to be the birthplace of Ali?? If so their hatred has made them blind and no wonder they will never see the cracks ... Saudi govt has kept a window just at the point of rukn al yamani bcoz it's a sunnah to touch it as Prophet saww used to do
