Espoo Church is the oldest existing building in Espoo, and the oldest parts dates from the 1480s. It was enlarged in 1821-1823 using a cruciform plan. During the reconstruction in the 1930s, the medieval parts were emphasized and old wall paintings were discovered. The current belfry was completed in 1767. The medieval stone church is the most important monument in Espoo.
