formerly Kempinski Hybernská Prague Hotel

The Palace „U VĚŽNÍKŮ“ has gone through many changes since the 15th century before it became a new property of Kempinski Hotels on October 15, 2008.

House No. 1002 on the street formerly called “Na dláždění” or “Dlážděná” (and from the beginning of the 19th century, Hybernská) dates back to at least the 15th century, when two quite large townhouses stood in its place. They were joined in the middle of 17th century and rebuilt as a Baroque palace. Among its most famous owners rank count Felix Vršovec Sekerka of Sedčice, count František Věžník of Věžník, whose name gave the name to this building (Věžníkovský Palace), and František Josef, Count of Vrtba. The heirless count Vrtba bequeathed the palace to the Lobkowicz family who then sold it to Gremial Health Funds. In the 20th century, and until recently, the building served as a health care centre. It has been a listed building since 1976. The hotel is the result of meticulous refurbishments that have been made to a listed building dating from the 17th century.
