This shingle style house, built c.1905, features a complex shape with a uniform, shingled surface. The turret frieze exhibits a low-relief carving, but there are few other decorative details.

Actress Carole Lombard was born in this house in 1908 as Jane Alice Peters. A popular American movie star in the 1930s, Carole died in a plane crash in 1942 while promoting war bonds. Carole’s grandparents, Mary and John C. Peters, lived nearby at 832 West Wayne Street.
