Infamous historical landmark in Port Blair. Housed numerous freedom fighters of India during the struggle for independence from the British Raj.It originally had 7 wings but now remains only Three .Two of them were demolished due to Earthquacke and 2 of them were destroyed by Japanese during World War-II.
During this War Aazad Hind Fauj(Indian National Army-INA) conquered Andamans with the help of Japan Army and Netaji SubhasChandra Bose renamed Andman & Nicobar Islands as
"Swaraj" and "Shaheed".
