Kon Jdreh church (Thành phố Kon Tum) | campus

Vietnam / Thai Nguyen / Kon Tum / Thành phố Kon Tum
 campus, church

This is the location of a church and dormitory built by Sister Gabriel, who used to work with the late Dr. Pat Smith at Mission Hospital, Minh Quy Hospital.

The complex is off Route 24, which winds to Plateau Gi and beyond, e.g., Mang Canh and Quang Ngai. On the north side of Route 24, a lane climbs a long incline. The complex is on the left side of the lane.

The elevation of the complex is slightly above 560 meters, or 1,837 feet, approximately 60 feet higher than the abandoned airfield at Kontum. So the WSW view is stunning -- one sees right over the top of the city (see first color photo on the left).

Regarding the (probably) 1960s black-and-white photo, Sister Gabriel may be standing opposite Dr. Christian. Confirmation is pending.

All three color photos were taken on 1 September 2009, during a road trip to Plateau Gi, now called Mang Den.

  • Sister Gabrielle says this is not her, and she does not recognize who it is.
